Many of you may have come from places where the local library is entirely supported by your municipality. Cotuit is not like that. The Cotuit Library is an association library, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run by a Board of Trustees and a Library Director.
What does that mean?
We are partially funded by the Town of Barnstable and by the state, but less than half our operating income comes from these sources. We rely heavily on special fundraising programs, on the generosity of our loyal patrons (thank you!), and on the constant advocacy and fundraising work of our extraordinary Friends of the Library group.
By attending one of our functions or purchasing a book, suncatcher, tote bag, cookbook, or similar item , you make it possible for this library to thrive. Our goal is to provide you with the materials and service you want, but we can't do it without you. Competing in the Golf Tournament, enjoying a Fundraising Concert, and attending a Wine Tasting are great ways to entertain and to support your library at the same time.
