Cotuit Library: 2026 Annual Appeal to Sustain Community Programs and Services

Every day, the Cotuit Library opens its doors to readers, learners, families, and neighbors seeking connection, discovery, and opportunity. This spring, the library is inviting the community to help sustain that work through its 2026 Annual Appeal.

The appeal comes at a time of continued growth and impact. Last year alone, the library circulated 65,552 items and welcomed more than 39,000 visitors through its doors. From bestselling books and digital resources to educational programs and technology assistance, the library remains a vital resource for residents of all ages.

As an independent nonprofit organization, the Cotuit Library relies on community support to fund approximately half of its annual operating budget. Annual donations help make possible:

  • Free programs for all ages

  • Books, audiobooks, and digital resources

  • Technology and digital literacy initiatives

  • Welcoming community spaces

  • Lifelong learning opportunities

In recent years, donor support has helped expand technology access, enhance programming, and strengthen the library's role as a hub for learning and community engagement. Most recently, the library added two Vibe Boards, creating new opportunities for collaboration, presentations, and interactive learning experiences for patrons and staff alike.

Community support also helps sustain beloved traditions that bring neighbors together, including the Cotuit Library Kitchen Tour, Summer Concert Series, and Cornhole Tournament. These events not only raise critical funds but also strengthen the sense of connection that makes Cotuit special.

"In a world where so much comes at a cost, the library remains open to everyone," said Autumn M. Hassett, Executive Director of the Cotuit Library. "Every donation helps ensure that residents have access to books, technology, educational opportunities, and a welcoming place to gather. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community."

Donors are encouraged to make a gift at a level meaningful to them. Those interested in providing enhanced support may also consider joining or advancing within the library's Giving Society, with leadership giving levels beginning at $500.

The library extends its sincere thanks to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who helps make its mission possible. Together, we are ensuring that the Cotuit Library remains a vibrant and welcoming resource for generations to come.
