The Cotuit Library relies on the service of a dedicated volunteer Board of Trustees who set library policy, ensure the financial strength of the library and engage tirelessly in fundraising efforts.
Lisa Frusztajer – President
Lisa’s ties to Cotuit began in the early 1980s, and she is honored to chair the board of the Cotuit Library Association, an institution she cherishes. The library is, for visitors of all ages and interests, one of the most uplifting and embracing places on the Cape. In her professional life, Lisa has worked in consulting and financial services, and spent most of her career at technology companies. She now focuses on startup investing and working with founders, and is on the investment committee of an enterprise technology fund. She is an adjunct professor at Boston College’s Woods College, where she teaches a class on funding for new ventures. A graduate of the University of Chicago, London School of Economics, and Columbia Business School, Lisa has served on several non-profit boards, mostly focused on education.
Karl Vasiloff – First Vice President
Karl and his wife, Lisa, made Cotuit their full-time residence in 2021 after raising two sons in Newton, Massachusetts. Raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Karl graduated from the University of Michigan and the Boston University Law School. He joined Zelle, LLP’s Boston office, where he practiced law for 25 years, 16 of which he served as the office’s managing partner. Karl’s practice focused on insurance coverage for environmental and asbestos liabilities, as well as coverage for property damage and business income losses arising from manmade and natural disasters, including 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and flooding in Thailand. In addition to the library, Karl serves as a trustee of Lasell University in Newton.
Kathleen O’Neill Lynch – Second Vice President
Kathleen first came to Cotuit during college. Later, she and her husband rented for many summers, finally moving to Cotuit full time in 2020. Their children participated in the Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club instructional and racing programs and spent countless hours in the library’s children’s room. Professionally, Kathleen is an independent contractor who specializes in developing and maintaining client relationships, executing live corporate events, and creating on-site client experiences. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Kathleen served on several boards while living in New Jersey, and is an avid reader, belonging to three book groups.
Richard Oliver – Treasurer
After a 31-year career in commercial banking, Richard retired to Cotuit in 2017. He immediately pursued active involvement in philanthropic and community organizations and serves as treasurer for the Cotuit Library, Tales of Cape Cod, and the Chevaliers du Tastevin in Boston, an international burgundy wine society. Richard is a passionate athlete having completed 24 marathons in 10 states, including the Boston Marathon, which he has run four times. In his earlier years, he rode his bicycle from Boston to San Diego. On any given day in Cotuit, you will find him logging 15 or so miles – winter excluded! Richard graduated from Providence College, and during his school years lived in Switzerland for two years, attending the Universite de Fribourg. Richard and his wife, Lisa, are the proud parents of two grown sons.
Michael Curtis – Assistant Treasurer
Mike bought his Main Street home in 2015, and he and his wife, Christine, have been full-time Cotuit residents since 2020. He spent his 42-year career in the aerospace sector, eventually serving as production control manager for a $300 million company. He continues to enjoy working in the forging industry and has several years of experience in heat treating. During his career, Mike managed a shipping dock and multiple plants, all with the goal of ensuring customer satisfaction. He serves on several executive boards on the Cape and volunteers in many local community activities. Mike is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Lindsay Parke – Secretary
Lindsay and her husband John are part-time Cotuit residents who initially were drawn to the village’s charm, history, and stately sea captain homes. Lindsay retired from Eversource Energy after spending more than 35 years working in corporate, community and customer relations. During her career, she developed and implemented strategic programs designed to address customer, community, and business needs. She managed the Eversource Foundation, corporate dues and contributions, as well as employee volunteerism. Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, has served on numerous nonprofit boards, and enjoys gardening and time with family.
Joanne Massaro, Trustee
Joanne Massaro, who has maintained a home in Cotuit since 1999, spent almost two decades in public service with the City of Boston, ending her career as the commissioner of public works. Previous experience includes co-founding and managing a bakery/cafe in Charlestown with her sister and spending years as a community activist. Joanne has served or currently serves on numerous non-profit, civic, and governmental boards and advisory groups in Boston and on Cape Cod. She graduated from Cornell University, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Lesley University with a MA in counseling psychology.
Paul Morris, Trustee
Paul is 25-year part-time Cotuit resident. He and his wife, Suzanne, have three adult sons, all of whom grew up spending their summers sailing with the Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club and reading at the Cotuit Library. Paul retired from his role as vice president of North American sales at AMD. His first professional role was in information technology with DEC, and he spent the majority of his career in senior sales leadership positions with other industry-leading technology companies including Intel Corporation (22 years) and HPE. Paul also had the opportunity to work for several startups, including Cloud Technology Partners which was acquired by HPE. Paul earned his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and MBA from Boston University. He is an avid cyclist and a 31-year Pan-Mass Challenge rider.
Lynne Pepall, Trustee
Lynne Pepall is Professor Emerita of Economics at Tufts University. She received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Economics from Trinity College, University of Toronto, and her PhD. in Economics from the University of Cambridge in England. Lynne served as dean of Tuft’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences from 2007-2013, and chaired the Tufts Department of Community Health from 2019-2022. She was a visiting economist in the antitrust division of the US Department of Justice from 2013-2014, and was elected as a life member of Clare College at the University of Cambridge in 2019. Her work has been published in numerous journals, and she co-authored two books. Lynne and her husband live in Cotuit and Newton, Massachusetts.
Leslie Silliman, Trustee
Leslie is a native Cape Codder, having grown up in Bass River. Following her graduation from the University of New Hampshire, she worked for Bank of Boston in both Boston and Portland, Maine. She and her husband, Graham, then lived Buenos Aires for three years. In 2000, Leslie and her husband returned to the Cape and settled in Cotuit to raise their children. In addition to being an active parent at local elementary schools—Cotuit Elementary among them—Leslie spent many hours at the Cotuit Library enjoying story times and helping her children log many hours for summer reading programs. She is currently a teacher at Hyannis West Elementary School, teaching English to the growing number of English language learners arriving on Cape Cod. Leslie served as a trustee for the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation, and she and Graham have owned Siena Restaurant in Mashpee since 2002.
