We need your help
Dear Neighbors and Friends,
Last fall the Library completed a five-year Strategic Plan. As part of the process, we honed our vision to be: The heart of the village – today and for generations to come.
As we sit here today amidst the turmoil and uncertainty of the coronavirus, the “today” in our vision feels very different than it did in 2019. On March 16th, we closed the Library to patrons to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. We provided the option for you to request books over the phone for curbside pickup. After four days, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners told all libraries to cease curbside services. As disappointing as it was to all of us to stop this service, we felt that we had no choice.
Today our friendly staff can’t welcome you inside the Library, provide you with a morning newspaper or put a smile on your face. They can’t check out books or movies. The good news is that you can still checkout electronic and audio books and view story hours and other presentations using our website. If you don’t know how, please call the Library and one of the staff will help you through the process. The bad news is that we still don’t know when we will be able to open our doors for you.
The coronavirus is hitting the Library hard in the short term with ramifications for coming years. We are having to cancel and/or postpone critical fundraisers. We are also deferring much needed building projects, such as fixing our chimney and replacing windows.
In order to ensure the Library is the heart of the village for generations to come, we need your support today. On-line donations can be made at cotuitlibrary.org, by check at PO Box 648 in Cotuit, or by stock donation (contributions of stock can be sent directly to DTCC 0221, UBS Financial Services, Cotuit Library Association Account, Acct. # HQ1028447).
Thank you in advance for any and all support you can provide.
Stay well and I look forward to seeing you at the Library once we are able to open our doors.
